There are about 1000 brown bears in Finland, but considering the size of the country, the chances to get close to those large predators are quite small. However, in Mid-Finland, near the Russian border, they seem to be more numerous than elsewhere.

It was a very exciting experience to watch and photograph the bears at close counters. They are just fabulous animals.
